New Year - New Books!

If you would like to learn more about Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), check out this new book.
"This concise overview of TMS offers practical guidance for psychiatrists and other clinicians using it as a therapy, or referring their patients to have this done, as well as updating the field for neuroscientists and neurologists. It begins with background on the physics and safety of TMS, a guide for administering the procedure, and a review of basic neurophysiological studies with TMS, showing how it can be used to measure connectivity and excitability of the cerebral cortex. The heart of book is then devoted to its clinical applications, organized by disorder"(American Psychiatric Publishing Inc web site)

Testing Treatments: Better Research for Better Healthcare

"A 100-page book – ‘Testing Treatments: better research for better health care’ – was published by the British Library in 2006 and is available online without charge, licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported Licence.
This book is good for our health. It shines light on the mysteries of how life and death decisions are made. It shows howthose judgements are often badly flawed and it sets a challenge for doctors across the globe to mend theirways. Yet it accomplishes this without unnecessary scares; and it warmly admires much of what modern medicine has achieved."
