We now have a copy of the Red Book in our reference collection. Though written between 1914 and 1930, Jung’s heirs denied access to the book until 2001, and it was not published until 2009. Jung refers to the Red Book as “a voluntary confrontation with the unconscious” through which he developed his theories of archetypes, collective unconscious and individuation. The book itself is a work or art, written in illuminated Gothic script and containing numerous paintings, and is well worth a visit to the Library to see.
